I would say it ressembles vanilla Banished (2014), but with a more dramatic and scenic focus. Making tough moral choices in situations that both feel hopeless and heroic at the same time - especially near the ending of the campaign, as you're pushed to overdrive the heating source - and gosh that last soundtrack when you're in the heart of it - brought me what few games I tried managed to deliver. And it was great : the urgency you're feeling is natural with the well-paced flow of the game and doesn't feel imposed upon you. It really has its moments : after a not-quite done right first playthrough, I had a great honeymoon of getting used to the game until the main scenario throws rebellions and icy cataclysms at me.

You can do the main campaign in this time, but the campaign is just one of the 4 scenarios nowadays. Some of the opinion here write, that after 10-12 hours it is over. But the law trees could be more complex, the tech tree is better, because it gives you more choices to consider. It is realistic, that people would do that to survive. I like some of the brutal laws and the idea to create a theocracy or police state. The second scenario I played was the arche and it was even more easier, so I will go to hard level on the next scenario. If you understand this basic idea, the game is not very difficult, I saw the end of the main scenario in my first attempt. Gameplay is very similar to Banished, where you manage your labour to gather resources. Everyone would be happy to live and would not think about moral like "was it worth it?". The people are fighting for survival and the game is thinking about ethics and moral. There is only one thing I didnt like: the moral texts in the end are so ridiculous. The setting is great, so the only missed thing is a better introduction into the world: more background information for example.

The draws are beautiful, but the story could have more movies or other elements to immerse you better into the world. I guess this is the best steampunk game ever. The artdesign, the graphics, sound are fitting together and create a great apocalyptic steampunk environment. The most of us agree, that the atmosphere is great. This steampunk-in-ice theme goes really well together, especially the dreary and somber post-apocalyptic vibe it carries. The franchise announced earlier this year that a board game version was also in the works. Frostpunk 2 is the sequel to the highly acclaimed, BAFTA-nominated society survival game that blended city building, strategy, and management game play, creating a brand new genre. This isn’t the first time that Frostpunk has taken a step beyond its initial video game release. Each book is anticipated to be available in English and Polish languages. Dukaj plans to oversee the novellas as the originator and artistic supervisor, with each being written by various unannounced foreign authors. They’ll be working with the Polish writer, Jacek Dukaj, the author behind bestsellers such as “Ice” and “Other Songs”. They’re now taking the franchise further with an upcoming anthology book series. In addition to the game engine update, the studio is riding high on the success Frostpunk and expanding the game’s universe.
